Hi I just recently picked up a 93 es300 from a friend and the mileage/trip odometer is not working. Is it an easy fix or do I replace the whole gauge cluster, does the mileage save on the gauge itself or the computer if I was to replace it. Thanks in advance

I have an unused dash board from '95 ES with about 170K miles on it. 3 needles out of the three are not working. You can swap the needles if you like.

I have Lextech LED strips which I was going to use to fix those needles, but I never got to such project. In addition, I have bunch of LED white lights for the dashboard. All of these will be included with the dash board if you want to buy them. PM me if you are interested.

Not sure why your Trip/Odo is not working but in answer to your second question, the mileage is stored inside the cluster, not in the car's ECU.

Thanks for the replies, I just replace the whole gauge cluster, found one at a local junkyard for $40 with no burnt out needles and all the lights work including the miles/trip odo. s

Wow, lucky dude!

Two tips for keeping those working needles lit up:

1) Always run with the headlights on.

2) Adjust your cluster lighting dimmer control so it's not at its brightest setting.

Will post picture up as soon as I clean it up a bit. Picked the car up for $500 from a friend, so I'm working on some minor problems ie. blown struts, climate control blacked out, radio, gauge cluster and the one that needs attention real bad is the rack and pinion. It has some play if I jack the car up and move the wheel by hand and I can hear a clunk as I drive. Will update as soon as this 105 degree So. Calif weather gets cooler to work on some of those stuff. Just putting the gauge cluster made me sweat like I took a shower.

Welcome to CL. I'm in SoCal too. My 20-yr old A/C died again. Fourth time in 2 yrs. Hopefully, insurance will replace it. I have not been home at all.
Finally got a chance to check in. $40 for a working dashboard w/ all needles well lit is dirt cheap. Excellent price. Maybe I have to pay a visit to find some good leather seats.

So after about a month of owning this car I have fixed: sway bar bushing, inner tie rod, oem front strut, tune up, oem radio w/cd changer, instrument gauge, 6000k HID kit and a/c climate control. Total about $700 including $500 for the car and about $200 in parts . I do all the work myself so it saves me alot of money. So now all I have to do is change the catalytic converter because it failed smog (HC a little over the maximum amount allowed), other than that the other reading was below the maximum. Here's a little picture to show you what I'm working with.

Enjoying the So.Cal heat at the creek

Clean ES there man. Reminds me of mine before someone jacked my front grill. Are you planning to paint your mirror?

Theres a little story behind the driver side mirror haha. I was waiting for the local junkyard to be open and I was trying to fix the mirror because the clip and spring to make it fold came off. Everytime I drive the mirror would fold in because of the wind. So I'm sitting there trying to take apart the actual glass and I broke it . So I just grabbed another one from a black es300, I should've picked up the passenger also.
