Lost lug nut key for IS300 Rims
hey guys,
I lost my lug nut key somehow.... and now i can't take off my rims to change my hub bearings =( and axle.
I did a little search and people was calling it the "cave man way" to hammer a socket on to the lug nut and carefully taking it out.
also i heard that the key from the dealer ship is only $20.00 but the problem is i dont' know the key code for it =(.
any suggestion anyone?
i was thinking of making a negative copie of the lug nut with clay and taking it to the dealer...

2 choices here,,
1. Take the car to the dealer and have them take it off for you. You can ride on 4 lugs if you have to,, just don't go for, like,,years before you replace it. The dealer should have a master set of lugnut keys for all Lexus wheels.
2. Caveman method does work very well (have used it many times myself on other cars). Use an old socket which is slightly larger than the luglock. Hammer it on, and then use a breaker bar to wrench her loose. It will not damage any threads, so long as the lug lock was put on straight to begin with. Will be the same as wrenching it loose with the key. Just be prepared to lose the socket that you use(very difficult to remove it once you do this), which is why I suggest an old one that fits, and buy new lug locks.
Worse comes to worse with the caveman method,, you snap a lug,, tap it out and replace it. If your changing the hub and axles yourself, then tapping out a lug should not be a problem.
