Seems like a good deal to me. The timing belt is a big job.

firstly, it sounds like they did the proper repair since they were wise enough to advise doing the WP and belts

secondly, i would only worry if they did the job and you were under 110K miles

thirdly, that's a reasonable price

fourth, it's guaranteed / warrantied work, so you gotta factor that in, too

dont take lexus to toyota dealer for that , i would say, because toyota charges 'nonbrand' car fee, since it's not a toyota...even if they es and camry are similar [its stupid, i konw]. so im not sure that the toyota was better then lexus dealer pr wise

plus jsm1284 is in illinois to and he and other would have done it for you cheaper if you had asked them

you seem so much more impacted psychologically by it than budget-based concern

Ok Everyone; I just found about this site two days ago. This should help with the , HOW MUCH SHOULD IT COST thing. It's called Repair Pal.com. Put the make model year what you want repaired and then your zip code and it will give you the fair cost. Just got off it pretty cool. Also theres another one called Driver side.com haven't tried it yet. Let me know what you think.Hopes it helps, Later

Thats a cool site. The only thing I don't like is it doesn't allow you to combine say timing belt and water Pump. Besides that it is really helpful.

You think you got robbed by Toyota,,,, call Lexus and make sure you are sitting down when they quote you the price. Same work at a Lexus dealer WILL cost you well over a grand. Gotta remember,, you drive a Lexus now, and while the ES may be, mechanically, the same as a Camry, the name brand aint cheap. Gotta pay to play.
