what to do about fluids when doing full brake job?
i'm replacing all 4 rotors, pads, shims, hardwarekit(??) on my 02 ES300 tomorrow, i've already bought tools to push pistons back in it's place.
now what do i do with fluid?? some people say open the brake fluid cap open and close it when done. and some people don't even mention it. what is the proper way(cleaner way) to do with fluid? and i just grease between pads and shims? or grease anywhere else? what kind of grease do i use for caliper bolt, white grease? or same black grease that came with these oem toyota shim kit? anything i should know before doing a brake job? any tips?
thanks,
Tae

When you start to push back the caliper piston to install new pads, make sure you open cap from the brake fluid resevoir. This will allow the fluid you are pushing in caliper to go back to the resevoir. IF you keep the cap on the resevoir, you will have a hard time getting the piston back into the caliper to install your new pads. Don't worry, there usually is no fluid overflow from the resevoir when doing this. I have done it many times and haven't spilled a drop yet.

Well you don't necessarily have to open the reservoir cap until you are getting ready to install the new pads, you may be a little spillage if you open it up before jacking the car up because of the car shaking. You can put the cap back on after installing all 4 pads, but you don't have to wait until you lower the car.
