upon ignition stall very low RPM es300 2001
Hello my fellow ES300 owners, ive had my 2001 es300 blk on blk coach edition 50k miles for about a year now. Ive been regular with maintenence and oil changes.
Lately, my car has been having some trouble upon ignition. When i crank the ignition, it seems to struggle to start up. when this occurs, it will run on very low RPM's @ approximately 500. Leaving it basically ready to go out unless i manually gas. Once i assist the start up with tapping on the gas, the car is perfectly back to normal.
This usually happens about 50% of the time now within the past month.
I am going to get a diagnostic this weekend, but Id like to get your guys input. This may be;
-Spark plugs
-Timing
-Vacuum leaks
I really am not sure. I am curious to know if you ladies and gents have happened to run into this same inconvenience.
Thanks for reading my post ^^

Take your Idle Air Control valve off and clean it. And check for vacuum leaks, especially around the duct work going to the dual throttle bodies, if you have that.

I had a similar problem a few weeks ago, only the car started up fine and ran ok until the engine warmed up. Then the idle would drop way low when I came to a stop, like down to about 100 RPMs. There was no CEL coming on so I had it checked out at the Toyota dealership. They found that it was the IAC valve. I was hoping just cleaning it would work but they said it was a more serious problem - electrical - so it needed to be replaced. They found me a used one for $300. I don't even want to know what a new one would cost...

IACV issue is also common with the RX300, which shares a similar 1MZFE engine to the to the ES. This is on such thread done by one of our members, https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=358579
I found that a dirty IACV valve can go both ways, either a really high idle or a really low idle.

This has occurred to me as well. And it's happened when my IAC valve was squeaky clean. Like Lexucan, I'm guessing it's an electrical problem. GL on finding one for a good price!
