Tires for 03 ES300
Its time for new tires. The OEM size is 215/60 16. Has anyone tried using 225/55 16's on OEM Rims??

They will fit.
However, assuming that the OEM tire (215/60-16) and speedometer readings are correct, when speedometer reads 60mph actual speed will be 59.1mph or 1.5% slower with the 225/55-16 tires. Tire shops don't like to install if the change is >2.0%.
The 225 tire will be 5 mm (0.2'') closer to suspension/brakes components and stick out 5 mm (0.2'') farther which is acceptable for most cars. The wheelwells will be 100% clear (leaves even more room than OEM set up).

Don't know if this will help you, but here goes...
I have a 2005 ES330 that I bought with 36K on it. The tires were 215-50R17. I got a flat and used the full size spare and noticed that the spare was 215-55R17.
Checking the door jamb, I found out that the 55's are the OEM tire size.
The previous owner must have chosen to put the smaller 50's on the car. Now I know why it seemed a little lower than other ES's. :')
I have had no problems (except for the flat, of course...)
