Default Eclipse AVN-5435 or AVN-30D Need Help Fast

Gents,

New to the forum 96 ES 300 Coach Edition. I want to take out the stock stereo system and put in an Eclipse AVN-5435. In doing my research I have also came across the AVN-30D which is stated as being the same unit but from the Toyota dealer. Is this so? If it is would I be better off getting the AVN-30D and why?

I have a good price on both waiting for me and i'd like to purchase something today or tomorrow from a person who has both for sale. Any help or feedback would be awesome!!!:-)

Thanks,
Scott

Not really sure could you possibly post up more info on these two headunits?

I have the 5435 and have enjoyed every bit of it. Install was a breeze and I'm sure you can't go wrong with either eclipse unit.

I went ahead and did some research for you. Based off of the included site: "The 5435 has RCA preouts so you can add an amp. The 30D does not have the RCA preouts so you can't add an amp without dropping the voltage and adding a line out converter. I don't know if that modification will void the warranty. If the 5435 is stolen, it will require a CD key to operate. The 30D does not have that feature. BOTH UNITS PLUG INTO THE STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS--NO ADAPTER NEEDED!!!"(http://www.tundrasolutions.com/forum...se-head-units/)

Both units also have slight differences in looks.

So i guess my choice would be the avn5435, if you haven't chosen yet

but as the other person said in that forum:

All of that is correct, except for one thing. You really don't need any additional harness for the AVN30D. You can simply tap into your existing factory wiring harness. If you have the wiring diagram for your vehicle, it is very easy.
The reason I mention this is that I have not seen and aftermarket wiring harness for the 2005 models. When or if one is made, you could just plug that harness into your factory harness, and you would not have to tap into the individual wires. Yes, it is simpler, but not neccessary to spend the dollars if you know what you are doing.
