i need a new o2 sensor. bank 1 sensor 1 and have noticed that i get around 250miles per full tank. i haev a 01 es300. i have a feeling im getting low mpg because the car is running to lean because of the o2 sensor. waht do you guys think? is that prob the reason why?

Are you getting any check engine codes? When was the last time the O2 sensor was replaced?

Yes, but you have to consider other factors like your air filter, tire pressure, wheel alignment, dragging brakes and all the other usual suspects. I would change all of your o2 sensors, because if one dies, rest assured the other ones are on their way out. They are usually good for 100K. Get an original equipment sensor from Toyota. Dont use Bosch, Champion, or any of the universal stuff. Also, are there any exhaust leaks? Those will throw a code also.

It is possible to get a low mpg numbers with an ES or any car that is in good mechanical shape just by driving habits alone; ie driving fast, A/C usage, extensive idling, stop and go, etc etc. I can hammer the snot out of my ES all day and only come up with 250 miles to a tank. And it runs top notch.

i usually log between 250-275 in town with full tank, stupid morning traffic stop and go crap. Ruins my mileage im sure of it. But yeah more than likely its just average driving, maybe you want more mileage for as much as you pay for gas. lol
