i didnt have any problems up until that point. there is a quarter tank of gas. is it possible the gas shifted and something got sucked into the fuel pump clogging it? the car didnt die instantly it took about 5 to 8 seconds to completely die at a slow pace, losing power and all response until it finally died. i have a 92 es300 with 195000 miles. the timing belt is only 30000 miles old so that shouldnt be an issue. somebody help me i dont want to take this thing to the dealership.

the car wont start at all. i turned the ignition on and took the back seat out and the fuel pump didnt sound like it was running at all. will a fuel pump just die like that or do they go bad over a period of time. any other time ive had fuel pump problems they went bad over time, never just instantaneously with no symptoms.

Sounds Ghetto but .....try banging on the fuel pump while trying to start.
That's if you already checked for power and ground on the fuel pump connector while cranking.

i replaced the fuel pump and it wasnt working still. i checked what i thought were the two pins that provide power to the pump and it was roughly 4.5 volts. what else could be the problem?
