Default 97 ES 300 Correct Engine?

I have a 97 ES 300 and I need to know the correct engine or how to tell which is the correct motor. Can you tell by serial number, markings, etc.

How hard is it to replace the motor? My motor has 243,000 miles and is making a ticking noise and as you rev up motor it gets louder. The dealer says all valve buckets have the correct tolerance. It's not the timing belt or idlers. They say I have one valve that is leaking but could not guarantee that it's making the noise.

Do I put some Lucas oil product in it? Sell the car or put a motor with less miles?

Help...........

It all depends on what you want to do. Whichever suits your needs.

You can replace the engine, which is a 1mz-fe.

You can sell the car and get something else.

If u really want to keep the car, u can rebuild the engine.

yes, the correct motor is a 1mz-fe. if you plan to keep it awhile, i suggest rebuilding the motor. that ~$2k? would make a great investment, but it depends on other factors such as overall maintenance and condition of suspension. my car is starting to valve tick rather loudly now as i have 200k on my 97 as well. ive ran lucas oil, and it doesnt seem to do a whole lot.

goodluck
