Hello all,
Mom has a 2002 ES300. She is rough on the plastic shells...both masters are cracked. I tried epoxy but one is cracked beyond repair. She's just used to using old American metal keys. Anyone make a replacement shell that's reinforced or somehow more sturdy than OEM? The electronics still work so I believe I can just get a cut key shell and replace the insides...is this assumption correct? I have reviewed a few older threads but lexus-parts.com no longer functions. Sewell only sells OEM, and toy-lex.com doesn't respond (to email or phone). Any suggestions? Thanks
Regards

Is her Lexus key a 40mm key blade with a 3-hole remote shell? If so, I can sell you a uncut Lexus key blade with remote shell for $15.
All you have to do is put her present remote in the key shell and take it to your Lexus dealer to cut the blade. My Lexus dealer cuts the key for $10. All they need is your VIN # to cut the key.
I can email a picture of what the key looks like. Also, she can get a rubber key boot that can absorb the shock like if she drops the key.

Hey, thanks for the offer. I have no idea at the moment what her key specs are. She is in another state...will have to call her tomorrow. Is what you have an OEM? I was hoping for something stronger, but looks like options are limited based on lack of responses. Will have to call her local dealer to about cutting. My dealer wanted over $50 for just the cutting, and they won't do it for my Mom's key since she (being the rightful owner) isn't here.

How do you transfer the blade. I just ordered an uncut key only for the half of the case that has the screw hole in it. The plastic broke around the screw hole and the case keeps coming apart. It doesn't appear that it is possible to transfer the blade to the new case. Do you just pull on it to remove it from the black plastic?
