not much to say but make sure you get them from the dealer because i replaced mine with KYB ones from tirerack and they started klunking again after 1000 miles.

go here and save a bundle from your local dealer

Where are you located in Canada? I just replaced my rear struts and strut mounts in my garage a few weeks ago.

Other things to check while you are there....ball joints, control arms, sway bar end links, sway bar bushings.

DIY

I went with Canadian Tire Monroe struts and strut mounts because they had a sales. Lexus wanted too much money.

What info do you need?

funny i stoped just the occasional hearing noises months ago [your issue]

seperate issue:
the only thing i ever hear is bad noise from not having bump stops when ever i have a lot of people in the car

and if i did it all over again: i would have gotten all toyota stuff from teh cheapest source as possible [not wallking to a dealer is the cheapest i would imagine] the only things i would have done is a kyb since they have serviceable part which means saving s later for when they wear. the springs, well , that requires further investigation on your parts, are they too worn, do you want to buy lower springs for looks of the car

How did you stop the thumping noise cause I still have it on my rear right mount and it has about 5k miles on it.

I did this on my front ones and cuaght them before it was to late. First spray with thin penetrating oil all around where the strut thread comes through the mounting bracket and with a straw on the can under the lip of the bracket, then add a thicker lubricant(chain lube or white lithum spray) and fill the cup like area where the strut cones through. After a couple of days it should improve. You may have to add more and if this doesn't work you will have to change the mounting bracket. This is the information my mechanic gave me and it worked my front struts.

If I purchase a complete strut/spring assembly does this top mounting plate come with it?? In other words is this the plate on top of the strut with the threaded studs??

you say theres clunking sounds in teh rear?

i have a strong feeling its your rear sway bar bushings.

CHECK: Go under the rear of your car and just try to move around the rear sway, if it moves left to right relatively easily. most likely when you go over bumps on one side of your car it will clunk, pretty loudly. almost sounding like the strut mount bolts are loose.

new sway bar bushings can be found online and are very easy to change.

^^ X2/

I had this issue, it was weird, when there was 'no weight in the back' so nothing no groceries/people i would hear a clunking. I have baffled by this. Furthermore the suspension components were fine and my mechanic even checked them out.

It was the sway bar bushings. And apparently the ES300 has hard plastic ones that crack/deteriorate with time... My genius mechanic took the OEM ones [new] and modified them by filling them polyurethane. Ever since, "quiet" !
