I need to replace this and I know some of you guys might have done this. I looked at trying to get to it two different ways and I am unable to figure this out.

I know that It is in the middle of the lower dash, lower than the CD player. I have tried to access this via going under the dash and behind the rug, and going behind the CD player. Still unable to figure it out

Can someone help me out here? I know that there is an easy way as a local mechanic charges very little for it, but I would like to know myself how to do it for my own learning experience and because I am a poor student and would rather spend money on other things..

Please let me know.

The car is a 92 Lexus ES300. (Canadian - if that makes a difference)
