Default Brake Pads or Rotors? Vibration during braking

Hey guys, I have a problem with my 98 ES. At city speeds from 0-40ish braking is fine, but when braking from highway speeds 50+ the steering wheel vibrates so I'm guessing it's either the rotors or the pads. What do you guys think?

If it's the brake pads, what do you guys recommend?

your front rotors need to be turned. As long as you have 50% or more life left on the pads, I wouldn't change those.

Sounds like your rotors, if they can't be turned anymore consider getting some brembo blanks. If you need new pads try Hawks HPS. Great feel and almost no Dust

Yup definately your rotors. I had that problem with my Audi, felt like my front suspension was about to fall off.

rotors, just had mine replaced today. got rid of the pulsating, and get new pads too, so the new pads can wear with the new rotors.

rule of thumb is if you get new rotors buy new pads too. old pads will cause uneven wear on your rotors causing them to be defective sooner then later.

Please refer me to the studies that support the fact that using the existing pads will reduce the life of a new or turned rotor. I don't know of any. I have done this hundreds of times with no problem. I might recommend it if the pads were below 50% just so the customer didn't have to come back in so soon.

I don't know how this rule of thumb ever got started except by people trying to sell pads.

its kinda obvious that if the rotors are uneven that the pads will be uneven too. usually i would replace both at the same time. oh and those brembo blanks should run about 40 for the front and 60 for the back.
