Default gasket oil pan

hey!
mine is leaking a litle bit on my 97,
I should have the gasket by tommorow so ill be doing it thsi weekend
First, for those who already did this, is it a PITA?
And i call at the toyota, lexus specialize ( not dealer) and told me that i will have to seal it with 'silicone' sorry french...?????

Silicone, is also know as RTV, you can purchase this at your local auto parts store. Apply a thin layer and then let the part sit for 15 min so that the rtv just starts to tack over. Many people apply a thick bead, and then install the parts. When it is applied in this manner, the rtv squeeze out and makes a mess (both inside and outside the engine). The last thermostat I replaced had such a thick bead applied that some of the rtv peeled off and stuck inside the thermostat (resulting in a long wait for the engine to warm up).

Use the Toyota FIPG sealer. Youll thank yourself for it. Your 1MZ engine has a two piece oil pan. If youre just dropping the lower steel pan, its easy. The upper aluminum pan is a pain in the ***.
