Unhappy 1992 ES 300 Overheating

Can anyone help me i have a 92 es 300 which is otherwise mint, i have just changed the timimg belt, thermostat and water pump,when i drive on the highway the car is ok but immediately after i exit and stop in traffic or at a light the car begins to over heat. has anyone else been through this? I love my lil old Lex and would love be able to enjoy it so please help me out here. Please also email me at sha10457@yahoo.....any advise welcome

I have a question can you drive with the diagnostic E1 and OP1 bridged for more fan power? Or will that damage something somewhere?
