Thumbs up

That ES250 is CLEAN! Awesome find and snag, Bawlexus91.

I called about a 250 listed on local Craigslist and the guy told me where they're located and to come look at it. I woke up the next morning and pulled up Craigslist outta habit to find that he'd jacked up the price $200.
Whatta douche. "Someone actually CALLED about this car! Think I'll immediately bump the price." That kind of took some of the joy out of it. S'okay though, it's not a white one and I'd really prefer to find a white one with black as the 2nd choice.

The fact that yours is as nice as it is gives me some hope. I cannot believe the PAINT on that thing. Do you know if that's the original paint job?

It's my project car, so I'm gonna try and get itas close to perfect as I can, and then I'll pick and choose what I want done to the car. Thankfully, the exterior is in excellent condition. Initially, I'm looking to:
a. completely restore the leather interior (the cars biggest problem, but luckily, one of the easiest to fix)
b. remove the custom stereo and replace with the factory Lexus stereo (What can I say, I want an "original." Any idea how expensive this could be?)
c. There is an obnoxiously loud rattling/knocking from the back of the car when I'm on bumpy roads. My old ES 250 had this problem too. I just need to get it diagnosed, and fix it

Thanks again to everyone for there help and advice during my ES 250 hunt.

Funny I just sent mine to scrap but I kept the factory radio with cd player and the trim. You just need the amp.

Powerwave: There is a fair chance it could have been me you were seeing. I don't live IN Durham, but very near it, and visit it fairly often. In fact, I picked the car up at a shipping location in Durham about 8 days ago (on a Friday). That's the only time the car has been to Durham (thus far, of course).

Where in NC are you? I'm in Oxford. If you ever feel like forming a posse of ES 250's to police the streets of the Triangle area, let me know (ps - kidding about the posse part, not about keeping in touch though).

Sloooooow: It is indeed the original paint, at least according to the old owner. But I have no real reason to doubt it, because the paint is similar in look and feel to my old ES 250 from several years back, and it's not without its minor imperfections (ie, the occasional surface scratch that comes along with a 17 year old car). But thankfully, the exterior appears to be rust free, which is hard to find these days, as my incessant hunting has shown me.

I'm not sure what resources you are using to hunt for an ES 250, but www.iseecars.comwas incredibly helpful for me in finding mine. Basically, the website scours the craigslists all over the country, hunting for whatever car you want. If you're willing to purchase a car out of state, your options are greatly expanded. And if you're not, you can easily specify what location you want the site to search. Just glancing at it now, there are only 17 ES 250's for sale (perhaps it's due to the weak economy, especially considering that as recently as 1.5 months ago there were about 60 ES 250's for sale across the country, according to iseecars.com). I'll be keeping an eye out for a decent looking white or black ES 250 for you.....they pop-up more often than you might think.

CHOAS: I hate you weren't able to salvage that car in some way (i've seen the old pics of it and it looked incredible). Are amps for an ES 250 necessarily hard to come by (or expensive)? Have you ever installed one? I'm sure loads of directions are available on the internet.

Thanks for all the compliments, guys. I'll be sure to update whenever I complete different projects.

ok, so that might have been someone else. they were coming out of a fairly nice subdivision i pass on my way home from work. actually, my husband has the 250 out in asheville right now, but home is in south durham.

i don't see many clean white 250s running around, though. very, very nice find.

slooooooow: we just sold our old camry and were really relieved just to get calls about it. the market SUCKS for selling cars right now, anyone who can't pay in cash is out of the running, basically. we ended up dropping our price below book value for a car that was in amazing shape just to get rid of it. i'm shocked to hear this idiot you called raised his price...

I've never done the amp I bought the cd player not knowing I needed an amp. As far as the cd player it went it very easy.
