It's pretty unusual for a car to roll up 5-10k miles while in inventory. Anyway, that doesn't really make much of a difference unless you can show that the dealership changed the oil while it was in their possession. If not, Lexus can still say that you can't prove that it was properly maintained, at least for the last 26k.

I'd agree.

One of the problems with a used car is knowing if the previous owner took proper care of it. Just because it was in dealer inventory doesn't mean the dealer was responsible for the problem. They usually will warranty the car for 60-90days after purchase anyway.

Well it's confirmed by the dealership, it is oil gel. Just waiting to see what will be done about it. I will keep the forum posted. Thanks for all of the opinions.

The damage is done. You need a new engine. They can't fix that one. Maybe you have to do it their way which is let them attempt to repair it , and then if it breaks, they give you new engine. but optimally because you've been driving a car starved of oil pressure, with the bearing being eaten away, and sludge all over being impossible to fully remove, A NEW ENGINE IS WHAT I RECOMMEND!

I have a decent amount of experience with this in different engines. That's your front valvetrain [i.e. LH head ] and you have not seen the back ... the back [RH head valvetrain] is the much worse of the two. Look at my front at 143000 miles [3vz-fe] , this is what a pretty much well-maintained engine looks like [I certainly have], especially one whose oil doesn't have the emmissions - related design fault of the 1mz-fe equipped cars to with which to contend.

it is too late for this guy's engine though! and yours seems clean now, but has the varnish stains to prove she's been abused, but I would take yours over this guy's any day!

and i wouldn't put 0w30 i would do 10w30 - the less additives the better is my thinking since the oil is breaking down due to temperature extremes

[in my own engine, now that I especially feel that it's healthy, I have been putting in 0w40 mobil one [hadn't before this photo and not one else had] and I expect this oil with its awesome additives [so good that it's not certified as energy conserving] and good properties to be full proofing my engine. eventually, I ll bein there and I will take pics again to see if I'm cleaner. way off topic, I'll shut up]
