First off welcome to CL. Now I'm no mechanic but it sounds like the oil pump when its worked real hard is starting to go. This could be a sign of major problems down the road. I mean logically thinking if it was a sensor why wouldn't it go off all then time or intermittently? I would have a professional look at it if I was you.

I have to agree. To me it sounds like it would be the oil pump. If it was a sensor, it would either be constant or intermittent like Choas stated, and not some that happens at a constant.

I would take it in to a professional to get it looked it. I know there are quite a few mechanics that will do a diagnostic at low cost or even free of charge, and this will be your best bet. At least with a diagnostic you will know for sure one way or the other and be able to estimate your costs for repair.
