Lightbulb 98 ES300 Alternator Squeaking/.... new member

Hey guys, I was driving today and noticed a squeaking nose from the engine bay. I parked the car and let it idle and noticed the squeaking noise was from the alternator. The squeak occurs at idle and gets more intense as i accelerate. Could it be the pulley or some problem with the bearing in the pulley causing it to squeak? Also, how should I go about fixing this problem.

Sorry for such a lame question but I tried my best searching this problem for 30 minutes on CL. I've been lurking the forums for quite some time and finally decided to join up.

Thanks in advance for your help guys

-Thomas

PS. the car only has 61,xxx miles on it, i'm not sure if that helps.

welcome to the club. spray some WD-40 on the belts and see if that cures the problem.

The WD40 sounds like a good idea, but isn't that bit unsafe to spray right
onto the belts. I'm worried that it might cause the belt to slip and cause even
more problems.
Thanks for your help Bdub215

the wd-40 gets absorbed into the belts to "moisten" them. its not like your spraying the underside of the belt that runs along the pulley. just try it.
