Default HELP Clicking Steering Wheel!

MY03 2004 ES330 with 57k

Regardless of the car being in PARK or Driving, it is making weird CLICKING noise from the Steering Column, if doesnt look like its ramdom noise i could find out this noise is heard at exact point of steering angle, like 2 clicks to left 2 more clicks to right, sounds at same points.

i called Local Lexus to discuss about it, they told me its related to Steering Column

anyone had this problem and got it repaired right?

I had experienced this problems with 3 of my relatives ES330/300's and this happens to be very ANNOYING when i drive this car daily.

The TSB # ST001-05 covers this, they have designed a new intermediate steering shaft. Unfortunatly they will only repair under warrenty for 48 months or 50K miles from date of entering service. It should't be dangerous to drive, but sounds a little expensive to replace (knowing Lexus prices).

and those problems always happens after the warranty expires... thats sad, I guess i should be driving cars with less care so i can have problems in Warranty.

Wouldn't hurt to take it down to the dealer and see if you can talk them into doing under warrenty. I was just cut and pasting the TSB as it is in Alldata, I have not personally had this issue myself

i have the same problem, being a gm tech we had same problem with truck shaft. first gm replaced shaft, then we noticed same shaft just more grease in it to quite clunk noise or click nois. I have not done this to my 04 es330 yet but i bet that is what the problem is. Ill try tsb when iam in seattle this weekend to get the cheap key ha ha. love the lexus line. hope this helps.
