The new struts come with new ball joints. You just unscrew the old struts and screw the new ones in.

As I recall, the ball joints were quite difficult to remove the first time I changed my struts. It appeared to me that they had thread lock on them.

Just keep turning. They'll come out.
CUMan - So I contributed my eBay source in this thread and different people have different opinions about these struts. But I am stuck now that I just got around to changing mine and I too cannot seem to take these things off.

How do you "unscrew the old struts"? What do you "just keep turning?" Do you mean the nut on the bottom that screws into the fender? What about the top? Does that just pop off or do you need to pry it with a screwdriver? I thought this should be pretty simple and it should only take 5 minutes.

::laughing:: I have a rod (like the type used to put in sliding glass door tracks) that I use......and when my battery was being changed by Advanced Auto Parts (my mechanic was closed), they were so nervous, I had to stand under the hood with them to assure them it wasn't going to fall!!! lol!!!! Guess I need to fix that one of those days...it's on a long list with a limited budget due to still being a student and a costly divorce! At least I got to keep my baby!!!
