Default Questions on 2003 ES300

Hiya,

I have just purchased a 2003 ES300 and have some questions! I was always under the impression that the side mirror auto dips, however when I put it into reverse, only the rear blind goes down, no dipping - so does it dip at all? Also... I haven't tested this yet, but does the lexus premium sound system play MP3 cds? and how do I put the car into overdrive mode?

And yet another question - I've been told that this is lexus' entry level car (comparable to BMW 3 series, Mercedes C class etc) but it's got many of the same features, and is the same size as my 2002 BMW 525i so what's up with that? is it really entry class?

Thanks for any help

Entry level or not, I definately do not see too many around. I myself just bought a Lexus ES 300 , 2002. I feel great when I drive it around, especially since I am only 19 :-P

I get crazy looks sometimes though, I think they are jealous looks.

Sorry dude, the 2003 ES outside mirros do not automatically pivot down when the car is put in reverse. you have the wrong impression.

The premium sound system will play standard CDs created from MP3s provided the program used finalizes the CD properly, but I do not know if it will play a CD full of files in MP3 format. Word of caution on this CD player. Be careful using store bought adhesive labels on you homemade CDs. They add thickness to the CD and then will often get jammed or stuck. CDs labeled by Lightscribe or handwritten with a Sharpie work fine.

To put the car in overdrive, place the shift lever in D. The tranny will use overdrive when needed. If you want to keep the car from using overdrive, then place the shift lever in 4. (this is in your manual).

Congrats on the Lexus. Entry level or not, it is a Lexus. It is in so many ways a great car.
