Question Belt inspections?

Never really knew how to tell when you need to change the belt now that I think about it. Saw another thread about the belt, but anyway, how do you know when you need it replaced? Obviously, if it rips apart... it needs replacing.

IMHO I would change the belts when the manual says to do it that way you do not have to worry about them at all. I follow the manual for all service and have the dealer do it also.

The manual is stupid. But, I do all servicing myself, but the belt well, you can't really tell with that can you? Does anyone have any way of knowing when the belt needs a change. Because from the previous owner, I don't know when they changed it.

Check for faring and cracking along the belt edges and across the belt

I replace them when they are dried or cracked on the underside (the side touching the pulleys), frayed on the edges or at least every 45k miles.
