Default ES300 - WTB - Questions

Hey all

This is my first post and I'm not an ES owner yet

my gen 3 camry was just written off and I really want to buy an ES 300 as i'm told they're very similar cars with gas consumption and as a student that's important to me.

Dad owns a 2000 LS 400 and he loves it and we've had Toyota's in our family for a while so I know they're trusted.

Just had a few questions.
I saw one vehicle so far and when I turned the engine the ABS lamp and AIR BAG lamp was on.. any idea why?

Also how do these prices sound to you?
All in Canadian Dollars..

1. 1994 - 170,000km - $6,500 CAD
2. 1993 - 199,000km - $3,150 CAD
3. 1994 - 260,000km - $3,500 CAD
4. 1993 - 330,000km - $2,200 CAD
5. 1993 - 118,600km - $4,500 CAD

Any of them sound like a good deal?

Anyone know of anyone selling one in the Toronto area?

Any help would be great
Thanks

How much can you pay? These cars were continually improved over the years so the newer the better. There is also the transmission bugaboo waiting to bite you at somewhere over 160km. The 95 and 96 have the best gas mileage of all. The 97 and newer are better cars all around, except for the cupholders which are not good at all. I would go for the 93 with with 118Km, but there is also one listed on Kijiji which is really a good deal, a 97 with 118km also, if you can afford $7000. http://toronto.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehi...QAdIdZ78160991

Bottom line is how many km's, and how well was the car maintained? One careful owner with a big stack of receipts for maintenance history, or third owner and can't really tell you much? If a car lights up ABS and Air Bag warnings thats a big red flag for poor maintenance.

You can get valuations here: http://www.vmrcanada.com/value_menus/yrsle.htm

For older than 94, just deduct 13% per year.

94 had quite a few improvements so thats a good one to shoot for, but getting one that has low km's and really well maintained is more important!

I bought mine from a dealership I have been patronizing for the last 8 years. The saleswoman knows me and what I like and how I would like my cars appearance to be. When I told her a year ago I was looking for a 2001 ES 300, it did take some time to find. By luck, an elderly couple traded it in with only 60,000 miles on it and it was in very good condition especially the body. It was a 1 owner vehicle and all dealer maintained.

Two months ago, my saleswoman me my baby. Where I live in NY, Lexus is in general hard to find. Unless I want to drive to Paramus NJ. I wanted a 2001 with under 65,000 miles and they are far and few. I am very happy with the car and it gets pampered. I'll post pics one of these days.

I got mine from a Toyota dealer, which means they checked over it before they knew they wanted to put their reputation on the line and sell it. I insisted it be checked for engine gel. On a car this old, private sales can be dicey. I felt more comfortable going through a dealership.

psyanyde,

I know of an absolute 'peach' of an ES available with only 158,000 with ALL service history. If your interested and are willing to travel a little, I can help you out.

Send me a PM.....it's right up your alley for what your looking for.
