Intalling a Remote Start in a 2001 ES 300
Hello my fellow Lexus Owners!
I have big question. I have a 2001 Lexus ES 300 and I love it. I have etched Windows, 20% tint, Heated Seats, Six Disc Changer, the whole deal.
This winter I wanted to Install a remote Start in it. SO I took it to this place near me who have done many of my friends cars and trucks with no problem.(None were Lexus) The starter went in, with extra key, and he was going to build the remote into the current Lexus Key. When the guy tested it, it would run for like 10-15 minutes then the remote starter would freeze and short circuit. So of course he couldn't give it to me that way. The guy wanted $250 for it and when I went to Difeo Lexus they wanted $540!!!! That's Kooky talk, so my question is, anyone else encounter this problem?
Please help
Jason

It's tough
It's tough to use the factory key/key fob to activate the remote start. It has to do with the remote start brain recognizing, were the doors locked unlocked, and which door(s) is it checking? There is also the whole transponder (chip) issue, there are 2 ways to do it, use the "expensive" valet key, and a universal transponder bypass, or get a correct transponder bypass.
