Default es300 OEM stereo question

I have a '93 ES300 that did not come with a CD changer.

The guy I bought it from had a real crappy aftermarket unit in it. After much thought and other options--I'd like to put an OEM unit in it.

I want to know if I can put an OEM unit in it that was from an ES300 with CD changer. The buttons vary slightly. And the CD changer model has two harnesses to connect in the back--the non CD changer model has only one harness.

Can I put a CD changer version in there and just leave the opening for the CD changer harness empty and it will work?

Thanks!

So you installed a trunk-mount changer and new head unit?

No, I installed a factory headunit and replaced my factory climate control with a '96 climate control. I didn't mess with the CD changer. I just use my ipod with a tape adapter, less annoying IMHO than CDs.

It was interesting because I have a '93 without the CD changer option when new, so I wasn't sure an OEM cd changer-style headunit would work (different head units where installed in the ES300s depending on whether or not they had the CD changer option). But it did!

And the climate control works too, all all the lights are good and the LCDs are great, 40 bucks

Have you figured out how you are getting accurate outside temperature readings even though your car wasn't equipped for it? That's just plain spooky!...but awesome!
