I run on 98.3 Octane gas too but the car is tuned for 100 Octane but i cannot get hold of 100...![Frown](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif)
When i run on 95 then 98.3 i do see a slight difference in MPG and performance...

Is it something that would need changing through maintenance?

The O2 sensor is about $30 bucks. You can get them at any AutoZone. I think you should change them at every 60,000 miles or so. It is supposed to greatly increase your fuel efficiency. It is really easy to change out. It is located at the very front of the engine on the right side of the exhaust manifold. It is held on by two nuts. I think they are 10mm. Just slide it out and clip the wire close to the base. Strip back some of the wire, slide it into the new sensor's connection. Crimp it. Slide the shrink wrap over the wire and heat it up with a match or lighter. Just connect the plug back to the other side and put the new gasket on the fitting on the exhaust manifold. Then slide the new sensor in the hole. Put the nuts back on, and snug them up. You may have to disconnect the battery to reset the sensor. Then you are good to go. Let me know if you need help to do it. By the way they sell two types. One has just a wire coming out of it. The other has a wire with a clip on it that just plugs in. The one with just the wire is about $15 bucks cheaper and it is just as easy to hook up.

Brando wrote a pretty good DIY description above. It sounds very similiar to the O2 sensor I had replaced on a Honda. I felt so ripped off when I saw how easy it was. At least the dealer mechanic let me watch.

Coming from a Jeep Grand cherokee into the lexus, i expected an increase in gas mileage. I sureeeeeeeee got one. I drove back to school (about 500 miles mostly highway) and averaged 31.8 miles per gallon @ 75 mph, 93 octane. Thats an exact calculation. phenomenal
