Are there any places online (besides dealers) who carry parts for 02-03 ES's? The drivetrain is somewhat different from Camry that year and i heard some comments from ES owners of these years that many parts from camry wont fit on ES. Also, is there a good DIY manual for 02-04 and generally is the car easy to work on ( simple stuff like brakes, filter changes, plugs etc)?

You can try Carson Toyota located in Carson, California. They can get any part for Lexus vehicles. Look them up online, give them a call and order the part you need and they'll ship it to you. They also give Clublexus members a discount. I can't remember if it's 10% or 20% off. Good luck...
