Default Whats it worth to you?

So i bought a 93 ES300 that was traded into our dealership and was going to be wholesaled. Instead, i bought it, and have been fixing everything wrong with it, which has been a tonnn! The car has 190k miles on it, i bought it for $750 (plus tax and license it was close to $950). Body is decent, small dent on the front right, and the hood paint clear coat is coming off. Im just curious what its worth in the CL world, even though im already selling it to my brother law. Here is a list of what ive replaced...

Valve cover gaskets, cap, rotor, plugs, wires, distributor o-ring, timing belt, water pump, idlers, seals, thermostat, engine mounts, axles (brand new), front rotors and pads, trans pan gasket and filter, power steering pump, high pressure hose, pcv valve and grommet, headlight bulbs, hood shocks, both O2 sensors, wiper blades, alternator and p/s belts, all filters, and finally had to replace the catalytic converter.

Still have to replace the front door speakers and transmission mount, then its done.

So, whats it worth?

Hmm, in AUD I'd say around maybe ummmmm $5000 if you fixed the hood. Don't know about the size of the dent. I'm guessing those parts arn't all new are they? Either way that's quite a bit of replacing you've done, must've been a lemon haha.

What's $5000 in USD? about $3393 USD.

I really like the Consumer Guide Automotive in determining a fair market-reflective price.

The peeling clear coat is going to hammer the value. In Canada now a car with that mileage and bad paint you are going to have a hard time getting $3000 and easily $2000.

sounds like I'm not getting much for a trade in when I find the 2nd Gen GS430 I'm looking for.

Nope. Unless you just don't have the driveway/garage space, and/or can't do the additional insurance for the ES, you might as well hang onto one of the few classic, pretty FWD/WWD cars of the 90s.

That's true though... if you can't get more than a couple grand for it, than why sell? Might as well keep it as a classy daily.

Yea, after all the parts and purchase of the car, im about $2500 into the car. But its going to go another 200k miles now... Im selling it to my brother in law for exactly what im into it, $2500. So all my labor is free, haha.

The hood im going to wetsand, and buff out.. im sure i can get it the shine again. The rest of the car is pretty good. Ill post pics when im all done. The car is really in great shape.

Yeah after adding up the part prices in my head I came to that conclusion. At least you got experience on an ES though.

Just hope the tranny hangs in there...

Retail is $2300 so that's a good deal for him.
