dang i know i am asking lots of questions over nothing.... but since it's my first time doing/trying these things hope you understand....
is it okay to switch front coils and rear coils? because it's so hard to access rear ones, so i will put the rear one to the front and if it's bad i can access it easy since it's on front now...

so it's okay to switch cyl1,3,5 coils with cyl2,4,6? it was originally throwing 1,3,5 misfire so if i switch coils and code comes up 2,4,6 than it's the coils right? but what if it still throws the same 1,3,5? and anyway to test out the coils itself??
thanks
thanks

hmm... sorry i just now read the codes that were thrown out.
when i had issues with my coil packs, it would throw the code for the front banks, ie 2,4,6.
but youre getting them in the back bank. if it were me, id get some cheap plugs and gap them correctly, then replace all 6 spark plugs.
btw, i dont think youre understanding here
cylinders 2,4,6 have the coil pack right above them.
cylinders 1,3,5 have the spark plug wires that get their signal from the coil packs on the front bank.
cylinder 1's signal is sent from cylinder 2's coil
cylinder 3's signal is sent from cylinder 4's coil
and cylinder 5's signal is sent from cylinder 6's coil.
you cant just swap coil pack around, because the rear bank(spark plug wires) arent meant to use the coil pack.
you probably did get each code twice, that means its a major issue, same thing i got when i got p0304, it threw it twice.
so heres what i would do, clear cel by disconnecting battery for a few mins.
then throw in new plugs, and drive around(or to autozone/wherever they do free scanning) and by that time the code should have popped up again. then have them scan again. if the same codes come up, its probably the coil packs. the reason i say this method first, is because youll spend roughly $30 for new plugs. where as 1 (one) coil pack is going to run anywhere from $70-110.

thanks charley, i just replaced all 6 plugs with genuine toyota denso iridium plugs and my coils are the same front/back so i switched front ones with rear ones. drove around 5 minutes and code are back on and car does drive rough again after code came back, i am planning on taking it to autozone first thing in the morning to see what codes are showing now....

The 02 1mz has 6 seperate coils, it does not use the 3 coil, 3 wire setup.

one way you can test the coil is to take the coil out lay it on the engine with the wire still connected get a old spark plug stick it in the coil start the engine and see if u see spark from the plug.if no spark u have a bad coil.do the front bank first,if all three work swap the front to the rear and test the rear coil .you should find the bad coil.
