did a search first, fyi.
On my wife's 2000 ES300 Platinum, when we are turning sometimes we hear the steering column at some point below the wheel make a strange "creaking" sound almost as if something needs more lubrication (but power steering fluid appears to be okay). I know this vehicle isn't as quiet on the front end as my 2002 E-class, but still, I also notice that one side of the car seems to be taking some harsher bumps than the other. Sway bar bashings and links were replaced recently and car is not driven much OR hard. Overall performance is excellent - aligned, suspension acts as it should generally speaking, etc. anyone know what this "creaking" sound is about when steering, it's particularly at low speeds? Going to get it checked out in a week or two; best my preferred alignment shop can do and I'm having my own issues after an accident with "Ze Benz"

There is a ZIRT fitting on the U joint in the steering column. Take a grease gun to it and you will be fine. You can access it from above the pedals, inside the car. Just take the plastic cover off.
Enjoy.

Mine does that weird creek with the steering during the cold weather...and the suspension noise for the front end is that infamous bushing or shock pad...I forgot the exact name for it but once I get it ill post it..

OFF TOPIC ALERT:
Ariyanna, my mechanic also tried to program my remote key and keeps running into the same issue - it ALMOST gets there but balks at the last step (I think you were involved in that discussion on another thread, so please forgive the off topic comment here) - any ideas?? The battery works fine, I know the key is a master key and I've also cleared out any prior keys.
