Hi guys,i got a 1994 es300 one year ago with a "low" mileage of 322.000km on it.It was running fine until 2 days ago when it started to idle high around 1300rpm,idle is stable though and i dont feel anything wrong with the car,driving and shifting sounds ok.By the way,the car has been running with check engine light on for about 6 months,code p0401 egr insufficient flow,i was told after someone vaccum tested it that egr modulator is dead and its not a problem so i never changed it.Does a egr modulator affect idle?Can you give an idea where and what to check?Thank's to everyone.
hey guys,I found the problem,it was the idle control valve,I cleaned the TB and after that rpm on idle skyrocket.A lot of carbon during cleaning went straight in the ICV thru the hole and blocked the ***** out of it.I took it appart and cleaned it,no problem no more,Hoping to go another 322.000km with this japanese thing.

did you recheck your codes, with a constant error, you have no way of knowing if something else is setting a code, this a why its a good idea to fix problems and not drive with a cel lit.... also it may have a detrimental effect on fuel consumption....I had a knock sensor error which turned out to be a loose connection, and was intermittent,,, but as long as the ecu senses a problem with the knock sensor it retards the timing which results in really bad performance......14 mpg.... if I am wrong in this assumption let me know as I am still learning my way around the OBD systems on newer cars..... my GF has a Seville STS, and it damn nears talks to you...... wish the Lexus was that loquatious, LOL
