Default 1994 es300 sludge

hi everyone,I need a litle bit of help before i try some weird stuff on my car.Whats the best way to clean carbon buildup from the engine?I opened my valve cover to take a look and its nasty in there,no surprise though, the car has 330.000km on it and i owned it for barely 6 months and i changed the oil 3 times already trying to clean that ***** up,previous owner had to be a bum.Someone gave me an idea to put 1 liter transmission oil in the engine?,but i thought to check with you first before i screw up my engine for good.Any advise?Thank's guys.

I have heard really good things about http://www.auto-rx.com/. It slowly cleans your engine over a period of about 3k miles, and for really bad engines you can do it twice in a row.

My main concern is breaking apart big chunks that would block oil passages.

Anybody have any experience with this? I am also wanting to try some type of engine cleaner.

You can also use seafoam. There is a write up on it by phoenix which is really good. Seafoam is much cheaper then auto-rx. If I recall auto-rx is about $25/bottle while seafoam is $7/bottle and seafoam could be purchased at most auto stores.

i have heard that seafoam is pretty harsh, that it can break off big pieces of varnish and crud that can get stuck in small oil passages causing serious damage. . . i said auto-rx since it does it much slower.

You guys hear anything similar?

you can try using seafoam to clean out sludge, but id always be afraid of the chunks of sludge clogging up small oil passages and clogging the uptake for the oil strainer...
the whole issue with the sludge campaigns toyota ran on older 1mz engines was that the sludge clogged the oil strainers and caused a lack of oil pressue.
there are products out there, but be careful

omg !!! when doing the atf trick, you gotta run the engine with the oil-atf mix [total qty within normal range] for an hour or two at idle. you dont drive with that in there! if you did, you have a good risk of breaking the engine. you must drain that all out, and refill with only oil and replace oil filter. then do another oil+filter change in short order[500 miles is good] then return to normal oil changes [3 to 5 thousand miles]

your engine is realllllllly slugy like you say then you might have to check how that worked out and if it didn't work as needed, do seafoam [similar procedure as the ATF trick] or the auto-rx product.
