Default problem with speedometer

hey CL users, I have a 94 lexus es300 that i love dearly. The problem is that I tried smacking the top of my cluster to make my gauge lights work, but in doing so I believe I smacked it too hard. Now I dont know how fast i am going, Im also having problems with my transmission. It started to slip on me about a month ago, now it becoming hard to shift fully into gear. This only happen after I take my car out of park, after it shift hard it drives good after the initial over reving. I want to get repairs done but i recently lost my job, and have no money.

i checked the dipstick, and the fluid is black. So, I guess it is burned. It only shift hard after the take off (or out of park), then after that it shifts perfectly. A person told me take i could just flush the transmission fluid away and it will shift okay. I dont have a lot of money, I decided to ask my fellow cl users for help. any suggestions on either the tranny or the speedometer needle. Thanks

As far as the needles go, check with a member named OLT or check out his website at: www.lextech.org. He does needle lighting and backlighting repair for our gen of ES. I had mine done last month and am very pleased. When you smacked your dash, you probably made the needle to past the stop point. Check with OLT on this as he can explain on how to repair it so it at least will move again.
