I've been on a very long quest to purchase some 17" rims and tires for my 96 Lexus ES300. My tire and wheel guy says the offset has to be 35mm-40mm to make sure they work, but others tell me diff. For the life of me I cannot find any used wheel and tire packages that fit. I don't want to use spacers so can someone set me straight?
Also is there any chance the IS 300 wheels would work?
I know i'm new to the forum, but I feel like i'm kind of stuck and getting pretty frustrated because i'm on a budget. Any help at all or feedback would be greatly appreciated.

the is300 rims should fit with no modifications at all..the only reason you would need spacers is if you dont want the rear wheels to look tucked in..i bought sum is300 rims for my 96 not too long ago and all i need now is sum new tires..im jux waiting on that tax return lol

I know they are VERY CLOSE to not fitting and have yet to talk to someone who actually has them on. My concern is they will rub on the suspension, esp if I hit a bump or put someone in the back. From all the info I have found is that it's so darn close that it's not worth the risk.

With the 215/45/17 tires you will have absolutely no problems.
Your speedometer will read faster than your actual speed..about 5 mph faster @ 70
One drawback is you cannot have your tires changed at Costco because they will only sell you 215/50/17 size tires. I have tried this recommended size tire, and it rubs without any weight in the car.
