Default Tokicos rock

Why dont you just get tokico struts for the rear they will last much longer and give better handling even to a stock suspension. They are the exact same models as the Camry and Avalon struts.Check out www.Shox.com for a quote.Your dealer should charge you like 250-350$ for the install.

Default Monroes

Thanks for the info. I just submitted a quote request. I just want to be sure, but when my rear suspension starts to squeak when I go over bumbs, do the entire struts need to be replaced? Are the Tokiko's better in your opinion and are they more expensive/cheaper than the Monroes? I love this forum. haha. thanks

Smile Monroes are mediocre

Well if you got a cheap domestic car monroes are good but for a Lexus I recomend something that will last long and give a more european ride. The best way to know if your struts need changing is by looking for leaks/weird noises/suspension buttuming out after hitting a small pothole. If you got any of those symptoms i would recomend changing them all because it will only get worse when the rear is weaker then the front.BTW if you looking for even better handling and a lowered look you could always put some TRD springs(made by Eibach) the Camry ones fit like most of the other parts.

Default thanks

thanks fellas, i'm gonna ask around to see how much I can get them installed for. NY's a crappy place to have a Lexus. Every shop wants to rip you off it seems, even the big chains and dealers. Does anyone know how much Toyota charges? Because one dealer told me $1400 JUST FOR THE REARS!

i must say that tokicos tend to blow out fairly fast 17K-25K range.
koni and kyb make excellent shocks, but i don't know if they are available for your car. you do get what you pay for.

Tokico: They’re a decent choice. Their Illumina stocks are fairly good as far as ride quality goes and are adjustable for rebound and compression. However, they seem to wear out prematurely and not last as long.
Koni: Seems to be the most popular choice. Reds may be better for those wanting to retain stock ride quality. Koni yellows are designed with the aggressive driver in mind. Koni Sports are a twin-tube, low pressure gas shock suitable for street or race applications and are adjustable for rebound only.
GAB and Bilstein: Great shocks as well.

Default KYB's

Hi, I got a quote from Shox.com for (4) of the Tokico's for $250 or $300 for the KYB's. Plus $20 shipping. Their prices aren't any cheaper than anywhere else, do you guys know somewhere cheaper, or is this the standard price? Also, is the ride of the KYB's better than the Tokico's and worth extra $50?

Default IMHO Get Tokicos for the price ..

Personaly I have seen the KYB struts and they are not great and they ride very harsh so that is why they last longer. You will not find any adjuatable struts for a ES300 unless they are custum or imported from japan. If i was you I would get the Tokicos and if ever they get soft or start dying get new ones for free because they have a garenty for the lifetime of your car.
