^ Indeed.

Also, crank/cam seals should be done with a timing belt change, as well as the tensioner.

There aren't any plug wires on a '00, probably none since before '97.

I know for a fact the '97 and '98 ES300 had wires as they had the same engine as my '96 Camry. I canlt say on the '99+ VVT-i engine though.

I have a '98 that has 105k on it. when I got close to 100k I did:
1. Timing belt
2. Water pump
3. Drive belts (because labor on them with the timing belt off was practically nothing - basically just paid for the new drive belts)

At Lexus this cost me ~$850

Of course air filter, oil, oil filter, and trans fluid should also be considered depending on when they were changed last.

$850? Holy crap!

BTW, you can always have the work done at a Toyota dealer since it's the same engine thats in Toyota's. I'd get a price quote from both Lexus and Toyota if you are goign to have the dealer do it.

I did, it was quoted $850 at Lexus and $830 at Toyota...but at Lexus that included the rental.

Definitely call around, some may even tell you to go to an independent shop, but I NEED my car to run for the next 6 years so I take it to the dealership for anything I can't do at my apartment complex.

They are all made on the same assembly line. When the '07 Camry came out and the 6-speed tranny failures surfaced, it was well know. But most people didn't know the Lexus's that had the same V6 and tranny's, also had the same failures. It was kept under wraps. It;s all the same ****.

Well, some stuff is better most likely, such as leather seats, interior materials, etc. Mechanically it;s the same stuff. All the Lexus parts come in Toyota boxes with and use the same part numbers. Even if they were made in different factories, I highly doubt it would be better quality.
