What is the capacity and type of auto tranny fluid for my car? AutoZone tried to tell me it was 9.7 liters!

97 FSM says 4 liters!

If you do a drain and fill it would take 3.7US quarts of Toyota Type IV fluid and if you do a flush it would take about 8US quarts.

That's just a little higher than other brands at the local Auto supply! Thanx - did you flush or just drain and add?

If you put something other toyota type IV you will damage your transmission and all I did was a drain and fill.

My uncle's ES 300 is at 120k miles and he recently called me asking about what she should do regarding his transmission fluid ( I don't think he has done anything yet... I know he bought the car used, but I don't know at what mileage). I will pass this thread along.
