Default 1998 ES300 VC gasket, Seafoam

Thanks to the forums, I was able to finish replacing the valve cover gaskets, although it took a long time to get the intake manifold out!

2 things I noticed:

- at 186,000 miles (and two seafoam treatments), the valve cover was very clean, as was the cams, etc... However, I did notice that when I had the REAR valve cover off, there was a small build-up of sludge in one of the "oil passages" towards the passenger side. I carefully scooped out about a teaspoon of grainy, black, gooey oil that probably was obstructing the oil a bit. I recommend some of you guys to make sure to check those passages as well.

- the intake manifold had TONS of carbon deposits. Is there a more effective way of cleaning that out? I tried carb-cleaner, but to no avail. As noted above, I've done two rounds of seafoam through the brake booster.

I was thinking of pouring a whole bottle of seafoam in a spray bottle and spraying it through the intake box while the car was idling.

yeah let the manifold sit in a tub of stuff... old fashioned is to use gas [but you best use lots of caution ] or better nowadays is like simple green or some other powerful solvent .... and just let it sit a couple days in that....

don't spray anything through the intake tube, dude, in an attempt to clean it, it will do next to nothing....

thank the EPA and the 1970s govt controls for your intake builds up [EGR and PCV system]
