Default wheel offsets

hey, i dont know crap about cars, but i am thinking about ordering these chrome 18x8.5 zenetti vega rims and i was just wondering if they'd fit my 1995 es300, they're 5 lug, and i think 5x112 offset or something like that, i'm not exactly sure about the offset size, or if that even matters, but hopefully someone can help me

Default Check with the tirerack

I'd check with the tirerack, they'll be able to tell you. I'm not sure if you can go that wide on the ES. Additionally, you may be limited to certain wheels due to the front-wheel drive. Zenetti's are not great wheels, one of the many knock off brands. the bolt pattern will be something like 5X114.5 ore something like that, and the offset will be expressed on + or - ## mm. The offset being the distance of the centerline of the rim to the front face of the rim.i.e. the higher the + offset, the closer the spokes/face are to the rotor/brake surface.

Do not , I repeat Do Not get 8.5 inch wide wheels on your 95 ES. I have a 92 Es exactly the same just different year and I used to have 18 x 8.5 inch wheels on it before and it was nothing but problems, I had terrible rubbing in the back whenever I had someone in the back, so I could never take people in the back of my car, If you get 8.5" wide wheels the offset will be 35mm which is what mine were, they have to 35mm in order to keep the inside lip of the wheel from rubbing on any of the suspension parts when turning and that offeset will not allow your tires to tuck when you have weight in the back or when you hit a bump in the road etc. THe widest I recommend is 18 x 8 inch wheels with a 40 mm offeset , I had to sell my 18 x 8.5 inch wheels even after I had the rear inner fender lips shaved, even after that the tires still rubbed, trust me I speaking from experience, I am on my 4th different wheel setup, so I know what I am talking about, Get either 18 x 8 with 40 mm offset and 225/40/18 tires that was my most recent setup, it worked fine I just sold them because I wanted a different wheel so know I have 18 x 7.5 with a 45mm offset konig attain's and 225/40/18 tires( haven't posted new pics yet my old setup is in the ES gallery the red and gray one with the chrome wheels) and they tuck even better than the 18 x 8 wide wheels I used to have, so sond't get 8.5 inch wide wheels they will cause you nothing but problems trust me, any other questions just ask

Default damn

in the 95 es300, they supposedly made the tires or wheels from 15 to 16", i'm not sure if they made the wheel well bigger too or if this would even matter again

They did not make 16 inch wheels for the ES 300 until 1999-2000
from 92 to then ES 300's came with 15 x 6 inch wheels with 205/65/15 tires so no the wheel well is not bigger trust me.

The first set of wheels I put on my 96 ES300, which coincidently was about 2 hours after I bought the car, was a set of Alba Blazes. They were 18x7.5, but were also a +42 offset. They rubbed like crazy in the back, just as lobo described. The fender lip would catch the edge of the outer tread on the tires and leave a groove. Uncool. I've now had three sets of wheels on my ES, but since the first set, I modified all of my fenders so my wheels would tuck well without scrubbing at all. I don't know what offset WILL work properly, but what I've listed above WILL NOT.

Question Well lemme ask this..

I just put my stock rims back on so I can sell my 15" Chrome Ultras that were on there. And along with more cash get some bigger rims. Should I go with 17s or 18s, 7.5 or 8?? I want them to tuck as much as possable. Hey lexpusher, I'm probebly gonna get those KMC Nemesis! Or mabye the KMC Alf.. Still not sure. But anyway I want bigger rims with NO RUBBING without modifing my wheel wells or suspention. What should I do?

I would go with 18x7.5 's if you don't plan to lower your ES any or modify it in any way. Maybe go with a 225/40/18 tire if you want to fill up the wheel wells a little better. Just my .02, but I would shop around for some different wheels before you settle on one.

So I could get 18 x 7.5 on there with no rubbing and without modifing anything? Btw - did you not like the nemesis?

That's right. Just make sure you get the proper offset. And I did like the Nemesis, but I didn't like them after about two months on my car, so I sold them.

L-Sport and Lobo both have 18x8's, 40 offset with 225/40 tires, which is what I've got coming this week. I think Lobo's fender's are shaved, but L-Sport's aren't and he's said the only time it rubs is making a fast turn with the trunk and back seat loaded, and even then it's barely enough to scrape the tire gel off. An 8" wide rim is the "proper" size for a 225 tire width, so the overall diameter of the tire and all that kind of stuff will be the way it should be.

Personally, I'd stick with a size and offset we know will work, like the one listed above. I know at least I don't have money to buy a set of rims that don't fit right. Also, don't buy knockoffs! If you're wondering, go over to the Wheels forum or do a search on the brand you're considering, might save you alot of headaches.
