Please disregard the unkind comments from "llcoolpass". I am a licenced mechanic and auto teacher, but need help with the specifics of changing the parking brake cable on a 2000 Lexus ES300.

Well, just checked the FSM and they don't go into any great detail. Here's the one page on the brake pedal:

From one mechanic to the other, I just checked ALLDATA, they only list repair procedures for the shoes and pedals. But the system is a basic shoe in rotor setup, that end is self explanatory. Does the cable go up into the body? Can you see the equalizer?

I had the vehicle on a lift and cannot see the cable to the equalizer. It goes under a cover or a channel and I do not know if it is accessible from inside under the floor mat.The end from the cable to the shoes is not a problem.

Maybe there is trim on the bottom of the console that can be removed to perform adjustments. ALLDATA say remove console upper panel and box to gain access to the adjuster.

I checked Mitchell on Demand, I'm afraid there isn't much on the cable itself. Good luck

Default parking brake cable es 300

The drivers side cable is sticking causing brake shoes to hang up and cause noise.I am attempting to remove the console as I can see access to the cable adjuster and possibly the equalizer.

Maybe spray some lubricant where it rubs the guids. Something like LPS.

Hi again guys . I finally figured out the parking brake cable replacement procedure on my wifes 2000 ES 300.Under the exhaust system is a pan held on with three nuts and this hides the cables and equalizer. You may have to loosen and move the exhaust system to the side.I also removed the console to see where the cables went, but this is not necessary.I hope this can help someone else . And by the way thanks to Lexucan I could not agree with you more. Go Canucks Go .
