Default 98 ES300 140K miles...worth $7100?

I have been searching for a good decent lexus (Spgfd, MO) for a fair price and been having a hard time finding the deals they have apparently everywhere else (from reading the posts). I found a 96 LS400 with 115K that looked absolutely new for 7500, I waited for it to go down and it sold. Now I can't seem to find anything thats not over 8000!

So I found this ES about a month ago.

Private seller, second owner, has maintenace done regularly, timing belt changed, not in a big hurry to sell, went down 500 already.

I'm afraid I'm not going to find a "better price" around this area and if I wait for a better deal, it may not come around here and this one will be gone as well. Then again, I don't want to over pay for something that its not worth.

I've had a used camery, acura, currently honda accord..all V-6. I am a firm believer to buy a used car that will go longer than 100K miles; and of course to pay cash rather than make payments with interest. To date, my favorite has been the acura.

Secondly, what kind of 3-4 maintenance would I have done on this car if I bought it? I already know about the synthetic oil changes, but what else is recommended?

That my exact point...everywhere but here you can find those kind of buys.
We are in the land of Ford and Chevy so they just aren't as common as in other areas, therefore, the ones you do find are more than they are worth.

this is too much IMO. there are deals out there just have some patience.
regarding maintenance - search this forum for a list of common problems. there is 1 big thread from which you can get an idea what usually goes wrong in other peoples cars and at what mileage.

on a side note - i've seen '02 ES with less miles for 8K, '05 ES with less miles for 10K. (both were around 100kmiles, both second owners with records)

98 ES with that many miles is worth about 4k-5k tops...For 8k you can find a clean LS400 with less miles...LS400 is whole lot of a car for the money

if you really going to buy a car right now, if I were you I'd be more than happy to travel to find a good deal & bring it home. As others said, you can get LS400 w/ $8K, I don't have LS400, but I believe LS400 > ES300.

Good luck though !

too much. Not worth more than 3-4k$.

Seriously though. You guys' are all in the US, is it that hard to travel to another state? Many cars in your country we crave over here, yet you don't want to go over to another state? It seems to me Canadians do more 'imports' than any one in the USA is willing to.

If anything hop onto eBay. There are so many always popping up for cheap and with newer less mileage cars.

In my area a new ad came up for a 2001, one owner car with service records. It has 189km so, ~118k miles on it. All for 7900$ CAD so in USD 6736$
