Default IS300 rim question..

Ok I know im suppose to use search but i havent really found what im lookin for with that so i was hoping somebody here can help me.. Ive got a 96 ES and I have sum IS rims lying around and im thinking about getting them put on my car but im kinda stuck with this one question..which tire size to get? should i go with the recommended 50 series tires or the 45s? and who here has actually used the 215/50/17 tires without any rubbing problems?

45.

Some have used the 50 series, however aesthetically it looks 'worse' since you have a balloon like tire on a larger rim. Second, i would see issues with rubbing and whatnot especially since it is larger.

Last use this to determine the ideal size: http://www.1010tires.com/tiresizecalculator.asp

Simply use that tool. Input all of the FACTORY specs [the ones off the door sticker] NOT what you are 'currently using' as it may skew the results.

Play around with BOTH sizes by inputting them and it will give you all of the data you need.

I have a '94 es300 that I put IS300 wheels on with the standard 215/45/17. I haven't tried the 50 profile, as I would be worried about tire rub with weight in the back. I will say that in retrospect, I wish I had just stuck with 16 inch rims for a more comfy ride. The 17 in rims with such a low profile 45 make all roads sooo bumpy. But I know its a personal preference thing.

215/45/17 size tires will work fine.
215/50/17 did not work for me.

yea i was gonna go with the 45s anyways..its just that evrybody keeps telling me to go with the 50s but because of the offset on the IS300 rims i dont think the bigger tires would work out..also im going to be using some spacers for the rears (i think 5mm) and i was wondering if i should get longer studs. i ordered some OEM lug nuts on ebay and im not sure if its gonna work out cuz the rear studs are smaller than the front..

215/50/17 worked fine for me on my 94 ES300.

You can see the wheels on my car before and after I lowered it.
