The tool to repair the spark plug threads costs $150 (I had to buy one when I lost a plug). The recommended maint schedule is strongly influenced by marketing.
I am sure that you can find many Ford Triton owners that can tell you horror stories about their spark plug issues. I feel spark plugs are too cheap to even want to risk damaging the head.
