Question ES 300 loosing Power...

Hello all,

I am new to this forum and would like to get some hints for my 2000 ES 300 from all you great guys

Recently the car is loosing power (above 2200rpm) and the engine starts to sound "Nosier" when i rev it up to 2200rpm.....

Everything sounds 100% normal (the perfect lexus quiet) when its not being rev-ed up to 2200rpm!

Where should I start looking at? Oil Change? Spark plugs? or Tranny oil ? etc? Any hints/experience/suggestions welcome!

Thank you very very much in advance

Welcome to CL
Try checking for any loose or leaking vacuum hoses.

Hold a rag over the exhaust and have someone give it a little throttle, listen for exhaust leaks.

Fouled spark plug is better a better term to use, sounds better! Yes a fouled plug will cause a miss, normally you would notice it at all speeds. 50 k miles is not that much for a plug, lexus recomends replacement at a much higher mileage than that. I myself prefer to change then at around 50k. It would certainly not hurt to change the plugs, pay close attention to the plugs you pull, and what cylinder. Especially check for oil on the outside of the plug, that would foul a plug.

did you mean to it's noisier when you rev is past 2200 RPM? also, is it making a noise or what? did you check the oil level [properly]? when did this start? have you been following the maintenance schedule? can you post a video clip with good audio demonstrating?
