Default Old topic, but still worried

I am in the market for a 2001 ES300 and just recently stumbled upon the whole gelling issue. Obviously it hasn't scared you folks away from the purchase, but I am feeling a bit paranoid lol. As it is a 2001, I would have some time left to get it fixed if I bought it from dealer and it then seized up(I would obviously have a mechanic check it before I bought it). I guess I'm just looking for reassurance that I won't be **** outta luck a few months down the proverbial road with a seized up ES300. I saw one thread where someone mentioned I(well,by I, I mean my more mechanically inclined friend) could just reach up inside and remove the junk manually. If that is true I can't see it being a very expensive problem I would have to deal with. This issue is the only thing holding me back and also making me consider a GS300. My other owns a 99 GS400 with 140k on it and it runs fabulous. I have found a super low milage GS300 for a good price and since it doesn't have a gelling issue I am pretty interested.

This is getting longer than I had expected so let me sum this up quick...

A. Love ES300's (Had a 96 that I unfortunately totaled)
B. Conscerned that I'll buy a 2001 and end up with a bad engine
C. Like the GS300's styling better, but would rather save a few grand + have front wheel drive in Connecticut winters(anyone have a GS300 and can tell me they are fine in New England's winters??)

So...any calming advice on the ES or am I safer with the GS300?

PS - Love the forums, will frequent with whatever Lex I decide to go with.
