Default 1997 ES300 Resale value?

Hey guys,

I'm getting ready to put my ES3 on the market. It has 126k miles and is a 1997 model. It runs great with no issues. Has new tires and 18" SC430 wheels, one of the wheels is bent, but I keep it in the right rear and you cannot feel any vibrations from it. It is also lowered on Tein spings and aftermarket struts (I don't recall the brand as I had this done a while ago). I just replaced the O2 sensor on bank 1, and that is really the only major issue that it has had.

I had to replace the stock radio and CD changer because the LCD went out on me. It has a Clarion head that plays MP3s and a nice custom plate. It is wired for a sub as well.

I have the stock wheels and the stock stuts and springs.

It is in pretty good shape, but the FL sun has beat up on the paint on the roof and it has started to peel.

I was wondering what you guys think I should list the car for? After doing my research I was planning on listing for $6000 with hopes to make an offer over $5k. Does this sound about right?

Do you think I will run into any issues trying to sell the car lowered with SC wheels, or should I bring it back to stock with hopes to get more $$ for it?

Thanks for the help!!

You will attract a much wider base if you go back to stock. The aftermarket stuff is worth virtually nothing. Your only shot is to find some teenage kid. Anyone over 25 for the most part will see it's lowered and the wheels and walk the other direction. I have a 1997 that is bone stock and very clean with about 105k now. I'm debating selling it to obtain a 2004 6 speed Accord coupe. The dealer made an insulting trade offer so I was gonna start around $6500 and take maybe $5500, so i'd say your on the right track man. I like the wheels on the GS by the way.

ya i was thinking the same thing about going to stock. The thing is the cost of the spring/strut installation. I figure if I sell it for $500 less then its just about a wash.

I think ill list it as is for now and if it doesn't move right away ill switch it back to stock.

Thanks for the comment on my wheels There are some more photos here: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...s3-thread.html if you are interested.

No offense, it sounds like a nice car.

But:
Mods - turnoff
Its old - far less $$ to be made, although mileage is low so
Ebay shows es300 [varying years go for 5k$ mod free] There is one 99 listed a 5k with 0 bids... And 100k miles.
market at the moment = bad
An 01 in my are is going for 7k CAD [~6.3k USD] with about ~80k miles...

GL on the sale.

Thanks guys.

I'm gong to list for $6k as is right now. If I do not get much interest I will put it back to stock. I think I will mention in the listing that the stock suspension is still available and can be switched out if requested.

The market is actually pretty good for USED cars right now. Due to the bad economy more people are buying used. That is why you do not see much out there right now when searching.
