terrible news..

Wow, this is the kind of stuff you hear on the local news at 9, really shattering to hear it happen to one of our own members, and right as you were about to really kick things off too. Well for now you can only hope that insurance gives you what you deserve, keep us updated with what unfolds and hopefully you can come out of this with another Lexus!

Thanks for the concern guys.. everyone is so nice on this forum.. i really hope i get another lexus so i can stick around .. but if insurance gives me crap then it will be a while before i have saved up for another car I hate how everyone where i live gets a nice new car from their parents and I am the only person who has to pay for everything. I am pretty sure if i kept driving for a little bit longer trying to find a place to pull over things would be a lot worse. It got to the point where there were burn marks on the front seats. scary stuff. now i'm trying to get rid of the subs and amp i had so i can save some $$

I feel bad for you. your car was nice.
I'm sure you can find another one once all is settled.
this is a good opportunity to remind people that this happens more than they think -- batteries should not be messed around with, should be treated with great respect, and should be analysed with professional equipment at any signs of electrical problems. Having worked with them, I know this from training and from seeing one go pop. It's good you didn't try to take it out of the car, to save the car, because you would have been really hurt!
be VERY firm with insurance, and try to collect any images you have of the car showing off it's condition and look up the value of the NOW RIGHT NOW so that you can prove that at the time of your loss a sortof market value. you should call dealers and ask how much they SOLD THEM for and write this stuff down. and print out anything you do online [like kelley blue book and nada and so forth] so that you don't lose it on your computer.
good luck and stay in good health

man i sure hope everything sorts out with insurance...
i hate dealing with insurance, as i got screwed by some ladys insurance when she rear ended and toatled my acura...i only got 2 grand for an integra that was worth over 6...granted i had 190k on it, but it was MINT...and i also bought that car at age 15 with my hard earned funds and i dumped a ton of money into restoring and caring for it...so much so that the acura dealer parts dpt knew me by face and name...i know exactly how you feel man...it sucks to lose a car you dumped blood sweat and tears into...i still miss my acura...
its all good tho...gave it a few years and now ive got my lexus!
remember, through all the bad there will be good. Maybe you can scoop up a more performance oriented lexus like an SC or GS

Man, I hate to hear about Estelle. Glad to know that you are okay and I have no doubts that you will find another ES soon. I know you live in GA, I don't know if it is North GA or not, but I will keep my eyes peeled in the North GA/Chattanooga, TN area for another one for ya! Good luck with everything!

oh man, ES down! I'm so sorry to hear this, but you are safe and no one got hurt. Maybe you can get the carfax to show that it was in pristine condition regardless of miles and show the insurance company and try and get all of your money back. Any good pictures of your car before the fire will also help. Good luck with your car search and I'm sure the insurance company will give you enough to get another ES.
