I posted this on another Lexus forum to no avail, it seems that people on that forum only like to answer certain threads as a huge amount of threads go unanswered. I am hoping to get a different result here. anywho:
I am planning on installing a Chinese navi system into my 1999 ES300. This is the unit I plan on using: http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...m=120417673070 I just have a few concerns.
Since the es has a 195watt 7 speaker system, will this unit be able to put sound to all speakers as the listing states 4 x 60 watt. Will this unit be compatible with the current stock amp and will I need an AMP bypass wiring harness or a regular one? And will I be able to use this unit with my stock antenna to get a decent signal? Radio is key for me. Finally if I get this all wired up through the amp, will the sound quality be ok with minimal electrical interference?
Thanks

If the stereo is similer to that in the perious ones I might be able to help. When I was trying to get the head unit in my '94 working I found out the it was setup with a preamp in the unit which sent a low signal to the amp then got sent to the speakers.
If you do a head unit that is not OEM you will have to do an amp by pass, other wise you send to much threw the system and end up damaging parts. In most cases of after market headunits I have found that a new amp will be needed.
As for the antena as long as it gets connected correctley it should have no signal issue ex my '94 has only a stump left of the mast about an 1in tall and I get a clear signal in most areas.
Hope this helps in any way.
